MIAMI SPORTS COMMISSION

Miami-Dade County's Sports Commission works to secure professional, amateur, and youth sporting events that generate a positive impact on the entire community. The commission is also one of only 10 communities to be part of the United State Olympic Committee's Community Partner Program.

Since 2004, the commission has secured over 50 events including the 2009 USA Volleyball Girls Junior Olympic Championships, the 2009 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Regional, the 2007 US Fencing Summer Nationals, the 2006 Florida's Sunshine State Games, and the 2005 and 2006 FHSAA Football Finals.

In addition to securing sporting events for the benefit of the community, the Miami-Dade Sports Commission also assists in keeping Miami one of the healthiest cities in America by making active and healthy lifestyles a focal point for area residents of all ages. After all, it is easy to be active in Miami. From immaculately maintained beach volleyball courts to stimulating golf greens and little league athletic fields, Miami offers an alluring atmosphere for sports year-round. Innumerable baseball, soccer and softball fields, over 20 golf courses, and tremendous professional sports venues perfuse the area, providing residents of Williams Island with a plethora of possibilities to choose from.
