MONKEY JUNGLE
Monkey Jungle offers visitors the ability to watch 30 different species of primates in their natural habitat. This truly timeless area attraction started three generations ago when Joseph DuMond released six primates into the wilderness of South Florida. That release in 1933 was the beginning of the much larger and thriving troupe of primates that run free over Monkey Jungle's 30-acre nature reserve. Now, this protected habitat is the only one in the U.S. that can be explored by the public. Visitors delight in the water-loving Java monkey troop who forage through the Jungle eating natural foods and also dive into a pool for fruits during scheduled feedings. With a rainbow of other primates like Orangutans, Spider monkeys, Colobus, Gibbons, Guenons, and the tiny Golden Lion Tamarin inhabiting the area, sightseers at Monkey Jungle are never disappointed.
